"YOU...ARE A LETTER FROM CHRIST." 2 CORINTHIANS 3:3 NIV
John 3:16 is the greatest message ever
sent to man. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son." God sent Jesus to demonstrate His love - and He sends
us to declare it! "You...are a letter from Christ...written not with
ink but with the Spirit of the living God," to a lost, stressed-out
world searching for answers.
Now, when a letter arrives certain questions arise: (1) Who is
it addressed to? This letter is addressed to "whoever
believes." For every person you meet, you have something they need,
something more important than a tax cut, a salary increase, a
solution for global warming or a cancer cure. Friends, enemies,
relative, neighbors, workmates and strangers need the message you
have and the hope you bring. (2) Who is it from? The
author's identity determines the reader's interest level. You are a
letter from Christ, about Christ. "For we do not preach ourselves,
but Jesus Christ as Lord" (2 Corinthians 4:5 NIV). Our message is
not about us; it's about Jesus. "I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6 NKJV).
Religious folks advertise their religion. We advocate Christ. "But
are people really interested in Jesus?" you ask. Yes! In His
lifetime He drew multitudes. Since His death and resurrection He
draws countless millions of both sexes, all strata of society and
every nation on earth. "But I, when I am lifted up...will draw all
men to myself" (John 12:32 NIV).
Today nothing is more needed than a living portrait of Jesus Christ,
so deliver your love letter to "whoever" crosses your path!
